The complete range of single-phase Ecodan low carbon residential water and space heating products has received full accreditation for the Government’s Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS). Please note the 3-phase 14kW model is not MCS accredited.
The MCS process is very robust and also looks at the companies installing this type of equipment so that customers can take real confidence that they will get the reduction in fuel consumption expected.
MCS is administered by the DECC (the Department for Energy & Climate Change) and is designed to evaluate products and installers against strict criteria for microgeneration technologies, thereby providing greater consumer protection whilst ensuring that grant money is spent effectively. MCS underpins DECC's grant scheme, the Low Carbon Buildings Programme.
The scheme allows householders to claim back a grant of up to £900 against installation costs. The homeowner must apply for the grant prior to installation. For further details on how to apply for a grant, please see www.lowcarbonbuildings.org.uk/how. The homeowner must get confirmation from DECC before going ahead with any installation. Grants are only awarded if the Approved Ecodan Installer is MCS accredited, please see www.greenbooklive.com or www.microgenerationcertification.org for a list of microgeneration accredited installers.
For details on how the installer can apply for MCS accreditation, again, please see http://www.greenbooklive.com/ or www.microgenerationcertification.org.
